Prompts, Words and Pictures: Poetry from Songs

Tunes as Muse: Take two of your favorite songs, and match up a line from the chorus of one with a line from the chorus of the other. Then, write a scene that starts with the first lyric, and ends with the second.

I did this a bit differently. I took lines out of two songs I love and put them together and then added my own in between.

Songs used are “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin and “Nights in White Satin” by Moody Blues

The collage is mine titled “Lost”

My Dilemma

Letters I’ve written never meaning to send
Written in all that glitters gold
But hoping they will help my heart to mend
And clear the regrets of old.

As I wander past the memories that stalk
Looking for answers to clear the fog
Looking for hope as I walk
Absolution for my wrongs
Lumbering in my dialogue

In a tree by the brook there’s a songbird who sings
Whose words in the song do tell
Just what the truth is

And a new day will dawn
Will that truth allow my pain to begone
And in that new day will I know
Which path to follow and which way to go
Can you hear the wind blow?
